New Product Development Engineer

My client is based in the Oxford area and is looking for either a graduate or someone with industry experience, who can develop Fiber Optic sensor technology for new products, markets and applications. With some products already in production, the next phase is to improve and develop new products for other applications.

Its a small team and youd be working in a laboratory environment and were looking for someone with an open-minded attitude and a proactive and collaborative approach. It would suit someone with a natural curiosity that enables you to self - manage multidisciplinary projects. Good communication skills are essential and a fluency in English is a must; German would be helpful.

The hiring manager is interested in people who have studied Photonics, Optical disciplines or Applied Physics Degree to PhD level. Software such as Zemax and Solidworks would also be useful but training can be provided. Experience with optical fiber handling and/or microfabrication technology would be useful as would hands on experience in the fabrication of prototypes, test setups.

There is an option for hybrid working (4/1) as well as flexible start and finish times. Salary is likely to be in the £30-55k range depending on what experience you have.
