We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Assistant Team Manager to work in the Oxford area. This is a full time role for 37 hours per week, 8:30am - 5pm Monday to Thursday (4pm finish on Friday). Candidates must be within a reasonable commutable distance to Oxford as will be needing to go into the office multiple times per week. This could be all 5 days whilst on Duty. An Enhanced DBS for Children Barred will be needed for this role.

The role involves overseeing the delivery of high-quality statutory services for children and families at the point of initial contact, ensuring timely and effective assessments and interventions that promote the welfare and safeguarding of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support a team of social workers undertaking initial assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and early interventions

  • Ensure timely decision-making and case progression in line with statutory requirements and best practice

  • Liaise with partner agencies including health, education, and police to coordinate multi-agency responses.

  • Monitor and improve practice standards through quality assurance processes and audits.

  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and lead high-performing teams.

  • Strong knowledge of legislation, policy, and statutory guidance relevant to children’s social work.

Requirements:

  • Legal/Court Experience Desirable
  • Children's Protection, Duty & front line assessments
  • Qualified Social Worker
  • 3 years experience management experience within children's social care
  • Enhanced DBS for Children's Barred (Update Service preferred)
