Are you an experienced and passionate Social Worker ready to make a real difference in the lives of children and families? Oxfordshire County Council are looking for two Senior Social Workers to join our team at Barton Children and Family Centre in Headington.


Your new role
You will manage a caseload tailored to your experience, ensuring that the voices of children and their families are heard, and their needs are met. You will work with families using the Family Support and Safeguarding Workbook modules and a strengths-based approach, keeping the Assistant/Team Manager fully informed of any significant developments.Your role will include:

  • Delivering high-quality services aligned with key legislation and guidance, including the Children Acts 1989 & 2004, Working Together, local Child Protection and Looked After Children procedures, and the DoH Assessment Framework 2000.
  • Preparing and submitting professional written reports, including child protection conference reports and legal reports for care proceedings.
  • Undertaking child and family assessments and, when required, investigating allegations of harm or neglect under Section 47 of the Children Act 1989.
  • Maintaining accurate case records using ICT systems and recording activity in line with performance management requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and professional registration.
  • Strong working knowledge of services relevant to children, young people, families, carers, and partner agencies.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding, legislation, policy, and procedures.
  • Confidence in chairing meetings and engaging proactively with partner agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
