Autism Specialist Support - Headington

An excellent school in Headington is looking for an Autism Specialist Support Assistant to join their team starting in the new academic year, September 2025!

As an Autism Specialist Support Assistant, your main duty would be to provide support to children with Autism as their main diagnosis. These children struggle with developmental trauma and have a range of needs. As an Autism Specialist Support Assistant, your main priority would be assisting the children with meeting their academic objectives.

This will involve following the guidance of the class teacher. You will be supporting children on either a 1:1 basis or in a small group setting. Support will involve reinforcing lessons, helping children regulate and process their emotions and facilitating a calm and safe environment.

The successful Autism Specialist Support Assistant, will need to be open-minded, resilient, confident and determined to help others. You will need to be flexible and be able to adapt your role to fit the needs of each child. Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable but not essential. A good attitude is most important and you must be passionate about making a difference and helping children reach academic success.
