Key Responsibilities Maintenance Technician:

General Maintenance: Utilize your excellent eye for detail to perform a variety of maintenance tasks, ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest standard.

Woodworking and Joinery: Demonstrate your exceptional woodworking skills and experience with standard workshop equipment to construct, repair, and maintain wooden structures and fixtures.

Electrical Work: Apply your electrical knowledge to tasks such as rewiring plugs, extending leads, changing fuses, and under supervision, installing low voltage display lighting.

Painting and Decorating: Execute painting and decorating tasks with precision and care, contributing to the aesthetic upkeep of the property.

Audio Visual Setup: Use your knowledge of audio-visual systems to set up equipment for events, ensuring all technical aspects run smoothly.

Health & Safety: Maintain a good knowledge of Health & Safety practices and conduct risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.

Communication and IT: Leverage your excellent communication and IT skills to keep all relevant parties informed of progress and updates.

Time Management: Exhibit strong time management skills, prioritising tasks effectively and recognising when assistance is needed, asking pertinent questions to meet deadlines.

Driving: A driving license is essential for this role, enabling you to efficiently manage tasks that require travel between sites.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience Maintenance Technician:

A formal qualification such as an HNC, BTEC, or City and Guilds award in a relevant subject (e.g., building apprenticeship).

Experience in Display and Exhibition installation.

Practical experience with Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).

Previous experience working within a Grade 1 listed building.

An interest in Museums and Collections.
Hazard-specific / Safety-critical Maintenance Technician Duties:
This role involves specific hazards and safety-critical activities which will require successful pre-employment health screening through our Occupational Health Service before you can commence work, including:

Working at heights.

Lone working.

Driving on University business.

Regular manual handling.
