Overview:

Spencer Clark Group are working closely alongside an independent, DfE-registered, co-educational day school, providing specialist education for up to 30 students, aged 7-18 years. They provide a high quality, personalised education for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges that can create barriers to learning.

Role Summary:

The successful applicant will make a meaningful impact by supporting the growth and development of young learners, working closely with experienced teachers to create a positive, well-structured classroom environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with their educational and social development, helping them to thrive both in and outside the classroom.
  • Enabling full participation in a variety of classroom and school-based activities by providing tailored support.
  • Assisting with the setup of lessons and activities, including the use of technology and adaptation of learning environments to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, offering learning support and responding calmly and effectively to classroom dynamics.
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 or 2:1 support to pupils who require additional time, guidance, or encouragement to reach their learning goals.

Requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - Essential
  • Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (or equivalent) - Desirable
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or Autism (preferably in an education setting)
  • A positive, creative, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils
