Solar Electrician

Location: Penrith, Cumbria (travel across local sites)
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE)
Type: Permanent, Full-time

About the Role

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Electrician to join a leading renewable energy company specialising in commercial and domestic solar PV installations. You’ll be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining solar PV systems to the highest safety and quality standards, working across residential rooftops, ground-mounted systems, and small-scale commercial sites in the North West.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain solar PV systems (domestic and commercial)

• Carry out DC and AC electrical work including wiring, inverter installation, and connection to consumer units

• Conduct system testing, inspection, and fault diagnosis

• Ensure all work meets current BS7671 regulations and MCS standards

• Work closely with the installation and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery

• Complete relevant documentation including electrical certificates and system reports

• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)

• ECS / JIB Gold Card preferred

• Proven experience working on solar PV installations

• Knowledge of inverters, battery storage, and monitoring systems

• Full UK driving licence (required)

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices

Desirable

• Solar PV qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2399 or equivalent)

• Battery storage certification

• Experience with commercial-scale PV systems and string design
