Location: The role is based at one of the client's offices in Warrington, Abingdon, or Cumbria.

Hours of work: Up to 37 hours per week

Travel: Must be willing to travel to client sites as required.

Role Overview

The Principal EC&I Engineer will support the delivery of one or more design projects and may lead small EC&I project tasks with the support of other engineers. The role encompasses the full project lifecycle-from concept design through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the delivery of EC&I design work across all project stages.

  • Produce high-quality EC&I design documents and drawings in line with project standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage design activities to ensure deadlines, quality standards, and client expectations are met.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering principles, safety standards, and site regulations.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, or similar engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years professional engineering or technical specialist experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and team members.

  • Ability to independently solve complex technical problems.

  • Strong organisational skills, including managing own workload and supporting others to meet deadlines.

  • Eligible to gain Security Clearance (SC).

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience interfacing with other technical disciplines.

  • Chartered engineer status, or working towards chartership.

  • Previous experience on a nuclear site or other highly regulated environment.

  • Familiarity with AMTECH ProDesign or similar cable calculation software.

  • Competency in AutoCAD design.

  • Experience with BIM-enabled projects.
