Reed Talent Solutions on behalf of United utilites are looking for a Mobile Mechanical Plant Engineer to support their Penrith team.

Job Purpose

To provide mechanical maintenance and technical support to the Wastewater Production team to ensure Mechanical is maintained safely and efficiently in order that we may deliver the best quality wastewater service to our customers.

The role can require lone working, confined spaces working and providing input into capital and operational projects to ensure assets fully meet operational and maintenance requirements and the desired business outcome. Participation in an out of hour’s standby rota is a requirement.

  • To implement an efficient mechanical maintenance and installation service.
  • To analyse faults, rectify and ensure correct operation of Mechanical, Electrical, and systems-based equipment.
  • To perform planned and proactive maintenance activities.
  • To ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and internal company policies
  • To maintain required financial control of a pre-defined budgets.
  • To provide reliable, accurate and complete asset performance and repair information.
  • To analyse and recommend solutions to recurring maintenance problems.
  • Ensure that throughout your career that the required skills, competence and recency in all relevant subject matter are maintained
  • Ability to work in a team but also alone, be resilient, self-motivated, with strong problem solving skills and possess the required technical competence
  • Ability to diversify into specialised areas of maintenance, as required, such as but not limited to gas systems, hazardous area installations and high voltage installations
  • Diagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Experience of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems and associated networks to perform fault diagnostics, assist with disaster recovery and small system modifications
  • A practical and theoretical knowledge of mechanical maintenance.

Pay Rate: £19.03 per hour

Days- Monday to Friday 37 hour week

Essential Qualifications

  • A time served apprenticeship or equivalent, supported with academic qualifications ideally to HNC or minimum ONC equivalent in a relevant technical area
  • A valid driving licence
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, Company policy, statutory regulations, operations procedures, maintenance procedures, administration procedures
