Senior/Managing Quantity Surveyor

Salary: 60,000 - 75,000 + Benefits
Location: Penrith (Hybrid working available)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading UK infrastructure contractor with a proven track record in delivering complex, large-scale highway and civil engineering projects nationwide. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a major highways project based near Penrith, with the flexibility of hybrid working. This role offers the chance to take ownership of high-value packages, lead a commercial team, and work closely with operational stakeholders to ensure the successful financial delivery of key project milestones.

• Leading the commercial function across multiple highway work packages

• Preparing and reviewing cost forecasts, valuations, and applications for payment

• Managing subcontract procurement, payments, and final accounts

• Overseeing change control, early warnings, and contract administration

• Ensuring compliance with NEC or similar contract forms

• Supporting commercial strategy and advising operational teams on cost risks

• Leading and mentoring junior surveyors within the team

• Reporting regularly to senior management and clients

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

• Strong background in highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects

• Proven experience in a Senior or Managing QS role

• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial procedures

• Excellent attention to detail and financial reporting skills

• Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities

• Confident communicator with both internal and external stakeholders

• Full UK driving licence

• Salary of 60,000 - 75,000, dependent on experience
