Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a major highways project based near Penrith, with the flexibility of hybrid working. This role offers the chance to take ownership of high-value packages, lead a commercial team, and work closely with operational stakeholders to ensure the successful financial delivery of key project milestones.
Responsibilities will include:
Leading the commercial function across multiple highway work packages
Preparing and reviewing cost forecasts, valuations, and applications for payment
Managing subcontract procurement, payments, and final accounts
Overseeing change control, early warnings, and contract administration
Ensuring compliance with NEC or similar contract forms
Supporting commercial strategy and advising operational teams on cost risks
Leading and mentoring junior surveyors within the team
Reporting regularly to senior management and clients
What you will need to succeed:
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
Strong background in highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects
Proven experience in a Senior or Managing QS role
Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial procedures
Excellent attention to detail and financial reporting skills
Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities
Confident communicator with both internal and external stakeholders
Full UK driving licence
