LGV Mechanic/Fitter
Penrith, Cumbria
Monday – Friday | Dayshift | £16.00–£20.00 per hour (DOE)
Full-Time | Permanent

A leading name in logistics and transport, is currently seeking an experienced and qualified LGV Mechanic/Fitter to join their busy workshop team in Penrith, Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled technician looking to maintain and repair a diverse fleet in a professional and well-supported environment.

You’ll be working on a range of LGV units and trailers, including walking floors, timber cranes, tippers, and curtain-sided trailers. The role is predominantly Monday to Friday on dayshift, with some flexibility around working hours and occasional weekend work required due to operational needs.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in LGV maintenance and repairs.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience working on a varied trailer fleet, including hydraulics and specialized trailer types.
  • A time-served background with relevant qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC or equivalent).
  • Previous workshop or mobile fitting experience is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and make efficient use of time and resources.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety and working to high standards of compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and emergency repairs on LGV vehicles and trailers.
  • Carry out inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT in line with DVSA standards.
  • Diagnose faults and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and complete job cards.
  • Liaise with parts suppliers and workshop team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
  • Support the wider transport team by ensuring vehicle uptime and roadworthiness.
