Job Title: Adult Safeguarding Social WorkerLocation: CumbriaJob Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Adult Social Worker to join our dedicated Safeguarding Team in Cumbria. You will play a vital role in protecting vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct thorough assessments, develop and implement protection plans, and advocate for the best interests of adults at risk. You will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive safeguarding assessments of adults at risk of abuse or neglect. This involves gathering information from various sources, conducting interviews, and undertaking risk assessments using appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and implement person-centred protection plans to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults. This requires working collaboratively with the individual, their family/carers (if appropriate), and other relevant agencies, ensuring their voices are heard and their wishes are respected.
  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of agencies (e.g., health services, police, housing providers, advocacy services) to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to safeguarding. This includes regular communication, joint working, and participation in multi-agency meetings.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of vulnerable adults, ensuring their voices are heard and their wishes are respected. This may involve challenging systems and advocating for improvements where necessary.
  • Participate in multi-agency safeguarding meetings and contribute to the development of local safeguarding procedures and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, adhering to all relevant legislation and professional guidelines. This includes meticulous record-keeping, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations. You will be expected to utilise the Council's electronic case management system.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's services. This includes participating in regular supervision and contributing to team meetings and training.
  • Participate in regular supervision and training opportunities. This will provide ongoing professional development and support.
  • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures of Cumbria County Council.

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council .
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in adult social work, with demonstrable experience in safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and care planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with specific vulnerable adult populations (e.g., older adults, adults with disabilities, adults with mental health conditions).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Experience with case management software.
