Job Title: Design Engineer - Air and Fuel Systems
Duration: 12 month assignment (likely to extend)
Salary: 34 - 36 per hour

The Opportunity
As a Design Engineer in the Component Engineering department, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable air and fuel system components - from concept through to production. This hands-on role provides the opportunity to lead design projects, work with a cross-functional team, and collaborate globally to deliver world-class products.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver component development projects within time, cost, and quality targets
- Lead and participate in design reviews to gain business support and approval
- Develop specifications and collaborate with suppliers to ensure robust design and delivery
- Conduct FMEA assessments and coordinate simulation and validation (DVP&R) activities
- Investigate technical issues using 8D problem-solving methods
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into effective design solutions
- Prepare and review technical documentation to support production release
- Engage with global teams to implement solutions at manufacturing facilities
- Promote continuous improvement using Lean principles
What You'll Need to Succeed
Required:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 6-8 years of relevant engineering experience
- Proficient in CAD (ideally Creo) and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter)
- Experience designing powertrain and/or engine components
Desirable:
- Experience with fuel systems, air systems, EGR systems, or turbochargers
- Familiarity with APQP, FMEA, and DVP&R processes
- Background in the off-highway diesel engine sector
- Experience in simulation and test-based component development
