Commercial Manager (Metals), PeterboroughHybrid Office / Home

Overview:

Our client is a market leader in processing Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) to recover valuable metals and provide sustainable alternatives to mined minerals. Their global operations, including in the UK, the Netherlands, the US, and Australia, support industry by transforming waste into reusable materials. The Commercial Manager (Metals) will oversee the trading of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from Energy from Waste (EfW) IBA processing, focusing on maximising sales revenue and ensuring compliance with client contracts and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the trading of metal materials
  • Deliver the monthly metals tender process and any additional ad hoc sales tenders.
  • Oversee customer relationships and account management, ensuring strong partnerships.
  • Ensure the successful fulfilment of all supply contracts regarding quantity, timing, and performance.
  • Provide business performance reporting, identifying key trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Drive process improvements by collaborating with commercial and operational teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Waste Duty of Care and International Waste Shipment regulations.
  • Develop and maintain effective data management systems for metals trading activities.
  • Lead and develop a small team, ensuring appropriate training and performance appraisals.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Proven experience. With supply contracts, metal materials, management accounts, and post contract revaluation are desirable.
  • Ability to analyse performance data, market trends, and optimise sales strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across both internal and external teams.
  • Strong leadership and team development abilities.
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations and compliance requirements is desirable.
