Are you ready to advance your career as an Electrical Design Engineer? We are looking for a candidate to join our clients team at their Peterborough facility. As a Junior Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the team, creating electrical system layouts, schematics, and supporting development in a compliance-focused environment.

Location: Peterborough

Contract: 12 months (with potential for extension)

Rate: 18.75 - 22.80 per hour (36075 - 43867 per year)

Hours: 37 hours per week; Monday to Thursday (08:00 - 16:00), Friday (08:00 - 15:30)


This role focuses on electrical design, the development of automotive harnesses, and ensuring all work complies with the relevant UK and EU standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault.

  • Designing electrical system layouts, schematics, and cable block diagrams.

  • Supporting the development of automotive wiring harnesses for engine test facilities.

  • Developing comprehensive installation instructions and user documentation.

  • Preparing test documentation to verify harness quality.

  • Gaining hands-on experience with loom and harness construction, including basic fault-finding.

  • Collaborating with senior engineers and participating in design review meetings.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Some experience in an electrical or electronic design

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or Autodesk Vault.

  • Familiarity with PLM software.

  • Knowledge of CE / UKCA compliance requirements.

  • A willingness to learn

  • An interest in industrial or automotive electrical systems.

  • Strong communication skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects.
