Position: Prepress Operator

Location: Peterborough

Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:30am - 5pm

Friday: 8:30am - 3pm

Salary: £28k - £32k

My client is a bespoke printed carton manufacturer, and they are one of the UKs leading Specialists in printed cartons. They have a reputation for quality and on time delivery and providing a firm foundation for and growth and the building of an established presence in the marketplace.

Purpose of a Prepress Operator:

Have you got experience within working as a PrePress Operator and looking for a new role?

My client is looking for a well-organised individual who is willing to learn, follow instructions and company processes/procedures. Able to provide necessary support to the reprographic and CAD departments as required. Confident at communicating in a professional manner with customers and suppliers. They are also looking for a team player who is conversant with Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign.

Day to day duties of a Prepress Operator:

  • Liaising with customers via email and telephone on artwork and proof
  • Capable of understanding print set up for artwork (or willing to learn).
  • Use Esko software and workflows to create proofs and
  • Working with a wide range of media on layouts, ensuring artwork received is on correct cutters, making any required changes, and sending to customers for
  • Preparing artwork for
  • Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality
  • Understand internal and clients' briefs on
  • Preparing files for printing (RIP).
  • Generating proof sheets in accordance with Work
  • Making reprographic printing plates in advance of when print requires them on lithographic B1
  • Ensuring artwork includes relevant markings provided from the CAD designer for the CAD
  • Capable of working within a small studio team and able to work on own
  • Able to keep up with a high pace of work and manage deadlines
  • Liaising with relevant people/departments to ensure the Studio and Print teams are able to work as effectively as
  • Always follow health and safety procedures / guidelines.
  • Monitor, check and maintain quality checks and processes. Ensure relevant documentation is named correctly and saved
  • Providing holiday cover for the CAD and Prepress
  • Any other Prepress duties as

Experience and Skills Required for a Prepress Operator:

  • Proven experience using a MAC Operating System and working experience in this type of role.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustator, Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Confident and able to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Produce high quality work which is accurate.
  • Able to grasp technical information and concepts well.
  • Capable of using initiative and
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook as a minimum would be beneficial).
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to achieve tight deadlines.
  • Willing to learn new skills and follow
  • Flexible attitude to change and processes as business develops.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful and courteous behaviour when interacting with
