JOB DESCRIPTION:

Working within the Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement (CI) team, you will be responsible for ensuring a high-quality product is manufactured within a busy operations facility, building on right first-time culture. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Manufacturing and Design departments to create, maintain and implement robust manufacturing documentation & DFM (Design For Manufacture) for current and future projects.
  • Provide manufacturing input into the NPI process. Monitor & track costs – adjust where required.
  • Proactively Analyse & troubleshoot existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify improvement opportunities that will increase production efficiencies and throughput.
  • Use data-driven decision making to influence, identify and implement areas for improvement.
  • Identify, develop and implement new manufacturing processes and capital equipment.
  • Conduct production Practical Problem-Solving activities working cross-functionally to identify root cause(s), develop robust solutions and lead implementation, thereby removing waste and improving production lead-times.
  • Actively support the business with a Lean Manufacturing and right first-time culture.
  • Writing manufacturing procedures for new projects, creating & streamlining process routings in ERP system.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Min HNC in related Engineering discipline (Ideally BSc / BEng in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering  or similar).
  • Min. 2+ years’ working within an Electro-mechanical product manufacturing engineering team and production facility. Knowledge of mechanical & electrical engineered products.
  • Six Sigma – Green Belt (or above).
  • Previous experience of implementing and/or running Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing Practitioner  - techniques & expertise of: 6 sigma, 5s, Kaizen, DoE, Poka-Yoke, KanBan, Value Stream Mapping, PFMEA, 8D etc.
  • Good understanding and previous authoring of manufacturing documentation requirements (SoP’s, ERP, Product Routings, Quality checks, etc).
  • Good problem-solving skills – with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable presenting to and engaging with multi-level internal stakeholder audiences.
  • Good level of IT literacy with Microsoft Office tools: Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc.
  • A strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem solving and decision-making capability. Ideally, having worked with electro-mechanical products and can bring an aligned and best practice experience to allow the continued growth of the business.
  • Organised, self-discipled, numerate, with the ability to deliver in a timely manner as required.
  • Both people and process orientated to help drive and achieve common goals through relationship building and collaboration.
