Development Engineer, Air/Fuel Systems - 12mth Contract

Hourly Rate: £32 - 34.60 p/hr (37hrs per week)

We are currelty seeking an experienced Development Engineer Within Air/Fuel Sytems to join our clients Component Engineering Department where you will be able to lead design and development of air and fuel system components on our C4.4/C7.1 platform, across new and current products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead air/fuel system development projects to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Communicate project progress and technical risks to stakeholders and management.
  • Conduct design reviews and support decisions related to design, suppliers, and capital investments.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on specifications and ensure robust solutions via APQP.
  • Perform risk analysis using FMEA and coordinate validation activities (DVP&R).
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues using structured problem-solving techniques (8D).
  • Work with Product Management to understand customer requirements and translate them into design criteria.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation to support production release.
  • Engage with global teams to implement and industrialise engineering solutions.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 6-8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, particularly in engine systems and components.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex technical projects.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with fuel systems (high pressure or filtration), air systems, turbochargers, or EGR systems.
  • Hands-on involvement in APQP, FMEA, and DVP&R processes.
  • Background in the off-highway or diesel engine sector.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (PTC Creo) and PLM systems (e.g., Siemens TeamCenter).
  • Analytical mindset with experience in simulation, test rig, and full system validation.
