Overview:
A leading supplier of engineering parts and services is seeking an experienced Engineering Stores Manager to oversee the setup and day-to-day management of an onsite engineering stores facility at a key customer site in Peterborough.
This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in engineering stores, materials control, or maintenance spares management—particularly those who have implemented racking systems, labelling, stock organisation, and process improvements to 5S or Lean standards.
Role Purpose:
The Engineering Stores Manager will take ownership of the stores function, ensuring it operates efficiently, safely, and in line with customer expectations. The role will focus on stores setup, process organisation, and ongoing operational management, with a customer-facing element as part of an embedded onsite team.
Key Responsibilities:

Set up and organise an engineering stores area, including racking, bin locations, labelling, and stock categorisation.

Implement and maintain 5S standards within the stores environment.

Manage stock levels, reorder points, and supplier deliveries in line with operational needs.

Issue parts and materials to maintenance and engineering teams.

Maintain accurate stock records and documentation.

Work closely with engineering and maintenance staff to ensure parts availability and timely issue.

Support audits, safety checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Act as the key onsite contact for the customer, providing a professional and customer-focused service.
Key Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in setting up or managing an engineering or maintenance stores within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong understanding of 5S / Lean principles.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.

Experience with stock control systems or ERP software (advantageous).

Customer-focused approach and the ability to work independently onsite.

Full UK driving licence.
