Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Process Management

  • Oversee daily production activities involving sorting, washing, shredding, extrusion, and pelletizing various plastic types (e.g., PET, HDPE, PP).
  • Develop and implement production schedules to maximise efficiency while meeting quality specifications and delivery timelines.
  • optimise machinery performance through preventative maintenance and continuous process improvement.
  • Manage raw material inventory and coordinate with procurement and sales teams.

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE)

  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality control standards to ensure compliance with internal and industry specifications.
  • Develop and maintain safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment, adhering to local and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA).
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for staff.
  • Monitor waste streams and energy consumption to enhance sustainability practises.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs for the production team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Reporting & Budget Management

  • Prepare and analyse production reports on efficiency, downtime, yield loss, and cost management.
  • Manage the production department's budget, controlling costs related to labour, maintenance, and utilities.
  • Report key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational challenges to senior management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven experience in process optimisation and lean manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

    • Direct experience in the plastics industry or recycling operations, especially in washing, sorting, and extrusion.
