Astute's Power team is partnered with a leading Energy company, who operate several Energy from Waste Power (EfW) Stations across the UK, to recruit for a Regional Engineer to cover their EfW sites in Peterborough, Bicester and Croydon. Travel to other sites in the UK may be needed.

The vital Regional Engineer role comes with a salary of 65,500 + car allowance + up to 10% Bonus + overtime + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for:

  • Serve as the main contact for site Engineering Managers, providing technical support as needed.
  • Assist the Commercial and Procurement Teams with service support tenders, ensuring alignment with the EfW contract strategy.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering budgets, including lifecycle and CAPEX expenditure planning.
  • Promote and implement engineering best practices across the entire fleet.
  • Further develop the outage strategy and support outage planning and execution at ERFs in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Carry out regular site visits to attend management meetings, take part in engineering discussions, perform audits
  • Provide guidance to site Engineering Managers during breakdowns, helping to coordinate contractors and advise on repair strategies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance performance
  • Deliver written and verbal reports on site engineering activities, covering maintenance, performance, compliance, and sustainability



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A minimum HNC (or equivalent) qualification in relevant engineering discipline
  • Ideally a formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH (or equivalent)



Personal skills, knowledge and experience:

The Regional Engineer role would suit someone who has:

  • Prior experience delivering outages in a heavy process engineering environment such as Power Generation (Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, CHP, etc), Refineries, COMAH Sites, Steel, Paper Mills, etc
  • Knowledge of PSSR regulations
  • Good knowledge on steam boilers systems is a necessity
  • Prior knowledge of steam turbine maintenance and support
  • Experience in managing contractors on site
  • Experience working with CMMS systems
  • Willingness to work extra hours during times of outages
