Astute's Renewables team is partnered exclusively with established anaerobic digestion business who design, build and operate assets. They're looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to be based at their head office near Peterborough.

The Project Manager role comes with a salary up to 75,000 (DOE), bonus, car allowance, pension and healthcare.

Responsibilities and duties of the Project Manager role

Reporting to the Project Steering Group you will:

  • Manage all phases of the project life cycle: initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, and completion.
  • Lead project planning including scope, timelines, resources, budgeting, and WBS.
  • Track project performance using KPIs and proactively address risks and delays.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports and dashboards for stakeholders and steering groups.
  • Act as main liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Manage all project documentation and control systems.
  • Oversee quality assurance to ensure compliance with design, construction, and commissioning standards.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, maintaining RAID and decisions registers.
  • Lead change management processes and coordinate approval of variations.
  • Manage contracts, RFQs, supplier negotiations, and resolve claims
  • Collaborate with finance team to control project budgets, forecasts, and cashflows.
  • Coordinate project completions, from engineering to handover and operator training.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including HSE, CDM, EA, and other UK standards.
  • Manage internal and external project meetings, contractor resources, and site activity.
  • Oversee procurement strategies and design coordination.
  • Monitor schedules to ensure delivery on time and to budget.


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • NVQ 5, HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Project Management Certificate.
  • HSE Certification in Managing Safely.
  • Full UK Driving license.


Personal skills

The Project Manager role would suit someone who is:

  • Five years of experience working on Anaerobic Digestion "Gas-to-Grid" Projects.
  • Strong Working Knowledge of MS Office Programs and Project Planning Software.
  • Excellent Communication and Interface Skills
  • Must be willing to travel to the Project Site Locations in Southeast England.
