Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor searching for a new role? A Water sector leading solutions provider is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial function and deliver on impactful infrastructure projects, based in the Cambridge & Peterborough area with flexible hybrid working options.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the cost and commercial management of complex work packages. You will work closely with the Managing Quantity Surveyor (MQS), offering commercial insight, driving efficiencies, and ensuring value is maximised while maintaining quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Lead commercial management of various work packages within the project lifecycle.
- Ensure robust, live cost plans align with project scope.
- Work with estimators to produce accurate and risk-adjusted cost estimates.
- Administer and manage subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with Procurement to develop and monitor procurement strategies.
- Maintain accurate live forecasting aligned with project progress and budget.
- Monitor and report actual costs vs. estimates, highlighting variances and driving resolutions.
- Ensure change control processes are followed and documented with both suppliers and clients.
- Promote best practices in cost management, contract administration, and financial reporting.
- Support the development of commercial team members through mentoring and performance feedback.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Key Requirements: Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to influence, negotiate, and engage with a variety of stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale projects to programme, budget, and quality.
- Hands-on experience with NEC contracts and complex Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and provide leadership where needed.
- Full UK Driving Licence and relevant CSCS card.
- Experience within the water or wastewater process sector.
- Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, management, or a related cost discipline.
- Chartered status or actively working towards becoming a Chartered Surveyor is desirable.
