About the Role:
Simply Education is recruiting a passionate and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Peterborough. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who need additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them to reach their full potential.

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting the class teacher, leading small groups, and occasionally delivering lessons independently. You will be instrumental in promoting positive behaviour, fostering emotional resilience, and creating an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in both group and one-to-one settings.
  • Deliver planned lessons and lead the classroom when required.
  • Assist teachers in creating and adapting engaging learning materials.
  • Promote a positive and nurturing learning atmosphere.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and outside agencies.

Essential Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in leading a classroom or covering lessons.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Experience within a special school or alternative provision setting.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and behaviour management strategies.
