Job Title: Team Manager - Family Safeguarding

The Role

To manage and supervise a Children and Families Team of staff which may include Social Workers, Senior Practitioners and Children and Family workers.

We are looking to recruit a Team Manager for our Family Safeguarding Service to play a key role in ensuring children in Peterborough are safe and happy. Come and join us at Peterborough and be part of a team dedicated to making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and development of practitioners, identifying areas of strengths and areas to improve and implement appropriate plans to achieve this.
  • Manage the delivery of the team to ensure it is a high quality and effective service that responds to the needs of children, young people and their families or carers in a timely manner within statutory guidelines or service specifications.
  • Manage the planning, allocation and review of cases and ensure priorities are managed.
  • Lead on customer service and stage 1 complaints.
  • Manage the recruitment and staffing of the team.
  • Provide expert knowledge of safeguarding processes, policy and case law.
  • Lead on initiating, developing and sustaining internal and external working relationships with other professionals and partner agencies.
  • Through one to one and group supervisions, you will challenge and motivate the team to deliver outstanding services to our vulnerable children, young people and their families while upholding high professional standards.

Skills and Experience:

  • Current registration with Social Work England and a recognised social work qualification
  • Extensive knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and child development
  • Proven experience in professional leadership, driving practice improvements, and preparing formal reports Strong analytical and decision-making skills to evaluate complex information
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and addressing inequality
  • Ability to provide high-quality, emotionally intelligent supervision and support staff development
  • 3 Years post qualifying experience
