Simply Education is working with a specialist SEN school in Peterborough that supports children and young people aged 2-19 years with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD).

The Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mainstream classroom experience who is keen to transition into a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) setting.

Some pupils present with complex needs and behaviours, so patience, empathy, and a positive approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with MLD/SLD in class, one-to-one, and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning programmes and structured daily routines.
  • Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Contribute to behaviour management strategies and create a calm, positive classroom environment.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

  • Experience working with children or young people (in a school, childcare, or community setting).

  • Confident supporting pupils with additional needs.
