About the role
Help us keep the yard running smoothly. As a Yard Operative at J B Corrie, you’ll pick and pack orders, prepare items for galvanising and powder coating, and safely load/unload vehicles, playing a key role in on-time, in-full customer deliveries.
What you’ll do
- Operate a forklift truck to load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Pick, pack, band and wrap orders for delivery.
- Prepare orders for galvanising collections; check and count items on return.
- Check and count powder-coated orders on return.
- Put stock away in racks, rotate stock and keep accurate records.
- Assist customers collecting orders, answering product questions confidently.
- Carry out daily forklift checks and keep vehicles clean and in good condition.
- Drive a small flatbed van for occasional deliveries (as required).
- Handle and store gas bottles safely in the designated cage.
- Keep the yard and work areas clean, tidy and safe; follow all H&S procedures.
- Attend team meetings and complete required training.

What you’ll bring
- Forklift experience/certification (counterbalance preferred). Training can be provided for the right candidate.
- A full UK driving licence (desirable) for occasional van deliveries.
- Comfortable with manual handling and working outdoors/indoors in a busy yard.
- Attention to detail for counting, checking and recording stock.
- A customer-friendly, dependable approach that reflects our behaviours.
What’s in it for you
Hours: 39 hours per week, full-time.
Working hours are 8am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and then 8am to12noon on a Friday.
Salary: £25,000 per annum
