Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be supporting our global manufacturing client, serving the oil, natural gas, industrial, and renewable energy industries with their search for a PCB Test & Repair Engineer.
Overall Purpose:
- The PCB Test and Repair Engineer is responsible for testing, diagnosing, and repairing Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
- This role involves using specialised test equipment, interpreting schematics, and collaborating with design and production teams to ensure the high quality and reliability of PCB products
Key Duties:
PCB Testing:
- Conduct tests on PCBs using automated test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Analyse test results and compare against design specifications to identify any faults or performance issues.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and scripts to ensure all PCB designs meet the required standards.
PCB Repair:
- Identify and troubleshoot faults in PCBs, including surface-mount devices (SMDs), through-hole components, and complex multi-layer boards.
- Perform hands-on repairs such as component replacement, soldering, and rework on PCBs.
- Use advanced tools like hot-air rework stations, microscopes, soldering irons, and reflow ovens to perform repairs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of testing results, repairs performed, and any modifications made to PCBs.
- Generate clear, concise reports summarising the testing process, results, and any defects found.
- Work with the engineering team to document failures and suggest improvements to product designs or manufacturing processes.
Accountabilities:
- Perform troubleshooting and testing of PC boards, SMT, connectors, etc..
- Repair PC boards, SMT, connectors, etc.
- Perform computer controlled operations.
Internal/External interaction:
- Provide feedback to design engineers regarding test results and repairs to aid in future design improvements.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure smooth PCB testing and repair workflows.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving any issues related to PCB assembly processes.
Key Requirements:
- Suitable qualification (e.g. Degree, HNC, HND, BTEC, NVQ, City and Guilds etc) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience in PCB testing and repair.
- IPC-A-610 Certification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
- Hands-on experience with PCB assembly, soldering techniques, and component identification.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, schematics, and PCB layout files (Gerber files, BOM).
- Experience with software tools for testing, debugging, and reworking PCBs.
The Package:
- £25,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience.

37 hours per week - 8.30am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs and 8.30am to 4pm Friday (flexi-time is available).
- 25 days holidays and 8 bank holidays.
