We’re partnering with a well-respected charitable organisation based in North Yorkshire that provides person-centred support to individuals with additional needs. This organisation has been making a real difference in people’s lives for many years, enabling independence, dignity, and fulfilment for hundreds of individuals across the region.

As they continue to grow and evolve, they’re looking for a Payroll Clerk to join their dedicated finance team.

What the Payroll Job Involves?

  • Working in a small payroll team you will be processing hourly and salaried staff on a monthly basis of circa 600 employees.
  • Processing starters and leavers including P45’s and New Starter Checklists for HMRC.
  • Calculating holiday pay in line with current legislation as well as assessing entitlement to statutory payments, such as SMP, SPP, MSP and SSP.
  • You will also be responsible for uploading pension contributions to their pension provider.
  • Processing PAYE payments as well as meeting HMRC submission deadlines.
  • Producing P11d’s, P60’s, P45’s and any other Tax related documents.
  • Calculating overtime payments with hourly uplifts, bonus payments and salary sacrifice entitlements such as company cars etc.

Skills required:

  • Experience in payroll is essential, although it can be from any industry or sector.
  • Excellent communication skills as you will be speaking to people on a daily basis over the phone and via email about their payroll queries.
  • Someone who has strong numeracy skills with the attention to detail to match.
  • Experience using any payroll system such as Sage Payroll, IRIS or Brightpay etc

  • Full time 37 hours a week
  • Hybrid working – typically 2 days from home

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
