Butler Rose is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the finance team of a prominent and thriving business headquartered in Plymouth. This is an excellent role for a proactive and detail-oriented individual looking to make an impact in a dynamic environment.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Finance Management team, you will play a key role within the finance team, managing several cost centres and ensuring accurate and timely recording of expenditure. The role encompasses a variety of financial tasks, including cost analysis, invoice processing, and supporting budgeting activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Centre Management: Taking ownership of selected cost centres and balance sheet codes.

  • Financial Journals: Posting and evidencing monthly accruals, prepayments, and other journals as required.

  • Cost Analysis: Reviewing costs against budgets and reporting key variances to the Finance Manager.

  • Accounts Payable: Full accounts payable responsibilities for all property invoices using the company's data capture system.

  • Payment Preparation: Handling quarterly/monthly rent payment preparation.

  • Fixed Assets: Reviewing and posting transactions, including depreciation.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Supporting the preparation of budgets and reforecasts.

  • Month-End & Year-End Deadlines: Playing an active role in meeting critical financial deadlines.

  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Supporting the finance team with additional duties as required.

Skills & Requirements
  • Financial qualification (AAT or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.

  • Proficiency in IT, particularly with intermediate/advanced Excel skills.
