Salary: 27,000 - 31,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Are you passionate about helping adults achieve their career goals? We are seeking a proactive and empathetic Careers Advisor to join a dynamic Functional Skills centre in Plymouth, supporting adult learners in developing their employability and progressing into further education, training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 careers advice and guidance to adult learners studying Functional Skills (English, Maths, ICT)
- Support learners in identifying career pathways, training opportunities, and job prospects
- Assist with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and job search strategies
- Deliver group workshops and employability sessions tailored to adult learners
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress and outcomes
- Work collaboratively with tutors, support staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic learner support
Requirements:
- Level 4 or above qualification in Careers Guidance (e.g., Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development) - essential
- Experience working with adult learners or within an adult education setting
- Strong knowledge of local labour market trends and progression routes
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- A supportive, non-judgmental approach with a genuine desire to help others succeed
