Job Title: Childcare Tutor
Location: Plymouth (with travel across Devon)
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 (pro rata, part-time)
Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time
Hours: Negotiable (circa 15–20 per week))

Role Overview:

We are looking for a motivated Childcare Tutor to deliver short vocational programmes focused on preparing adults to enter or establish a career in the childcare sector.

Working with small groups (up to 12 learners per course), you will deliver accredited and practical sessions including:

• NCFE CACHE Level 3 Unit: Preparing to Set Up a Home-Based Childcare Business
• Paediatric First Aid Training
• Employability and career development workshops

Learners completing the programme will be supported with career advice, confidence-building, and guaranteed job interviews through local employer partners.

This role is ideal for a passionate childcare professional with teaching experience who wants to inspire learners to pursue meaningful careers in early years and childcare.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver accredited childcare and employability training to adult learners.
• Support learners to understand business set-up, regulation, and safeguarding.
• Carry out learner assessments and maintain accurate records.
• Provide pastoral support and career guidance throughout the programme.
• Promote inclusion, safeguarding, and equality within the learning environment.
• Contribute to curriculum and resource development.
• Work with colleagues and external partners to maximise learner progression.

Essential/Desirable Criteria:

Essential:

• PGCE or Level 4 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).
• Relevant childcare qualification and/or substantial vocational experience.
• Experience delivering training to adults in childcare or early years.
• Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills.
• Clean driving licence and access to a car.
• Enhanced DBS (funded by employer).

Desirable:

• Experience delivering self-employment or business start-up training.
• Knowledge of Ofsted requirements for home-based childcare.
