About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a high-profile defence sector project based in Plymouth. This is a pivotal role requiring strong leadership, a thorough understanding of defence site protocols, and the ability to coordinate site activities to ensure safety, quality, and programme compliance.
You will be responsible for managing all day-to-day site operations, ensuring that works are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with MOD and company standards.
Site Manager Key Responsibilities- Manage and supervise all site operations and personnel, including subcontractors and trades.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards (including defence and security regulations).
- Monitor progress against programme and report to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate site logistics and material deliveries.
- Lead daily site briefings and toolbox talks.
- Maintain site records including quality inspections, site diaries, and HSE documentation.
- Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and the wider project team.
- Ensure site security protocols are strictly enforced.
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on complex construction projects (defence experience preferred).
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black or White), and First Aid qualifications.
- Strong understanding of MOD site protocols and security clearance procedures.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate site teams under high standards of compliance and safety.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Active SC (Security Clearance) is highly desirable. Candidates without clearance must be eligible to obtain it.
- Experience working within Royal Navy or Babcock-managed sites.
- NEBOSH certification.
- Background in civil engineering or building services.
