About the Opportunity

ARM are proud to be supporting a major engineering organisation in the recruitment of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Facilities Engineering Department in Devonport. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile defence-related infrastructure projects, supporting the safe and effective operation of critical facilities.



The Role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in providing technical oversight and intelligent customer support for electrical design projects delivered by subcontractors. You?ll ensure that all electrical systems meet stringent technical, safety, and regulatory requirements while maintaining quality and value for money.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and prescribing electrical requirements for design projects.

  • Developing scopes of work and reviewing tenders from a technical standpoint.

  • Providing technical oversight of subcontractor designs and leading design reviews.

  • Responding to technical queries and conducting independent design validation.

  • Advising stakeholders on electrical engineering matters and driving design integrity.



About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in electrical system design, ideally within a regulated or complex engineering environment.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards, including IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

  • Experience preparing requirements, reviewing designs, and assessing compliance.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

  • A collaborative approach and ability to deliver to time, cost, and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
