We have a permanent Engineering Technician role available within BD's state-of-the-art Push Button production line. This role is ideal for someone with a strong electrical/mechanical background and is technically minded, improvement-driven, and collaborative.
Role: Shift Engineering Technician (Days)Location: BD Medical, Belliver Way, Roborough, Plymouth PL6 7BPSalary: £36,000 + 32% shift allowance (Day Shift) / 48% shift allowance (Night Shift)
Shift Patterns:
- Day Shift: 11am - 11pm (3 days on, 3 days off)
- Night Shift: 11pm - 11am (3 nights on, 3 nights off)
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical support to Production Technicians by resolving complex faults on automated equipment
- Mentoring and guiding team members in technical fault diagnosis and machine understanding
- Using HMI screens, MES, and PCs to monitor and diagnose faults
- Acting as a subject matter expert on specific equipment/process areas
- Leading and contributing to process improvement projects and initiatives
- Assisting with installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Identifying and implementing improvements across quality, cost, productivity, and safety
- Supporting in reducing machine downtime and boosting equipment efficiency
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Quality, Validation, and Toolroom
- Logging maintenance activities and order parts using SAP and other systems
Essential requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 qualification (minimum) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in high-volume manufacturing environments (2+years)
- Technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical, and automated systems
- Ability to use SAP and fault diagnosis tools
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and servo systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Mentoring and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
- Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
- Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
