Master Technician

Department: Aftersales / Workshop

Reports To: Service Manager / Aftersales Manager

Role Purpose

The Master Technician is responsible for carrying out complex diagnostics, repairs, and technical support within the workshop. The role acts as the highest level of technical expertise, supporting the workshop team, ensuring manufacturer standards are met, and contributing to productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Technical & Diagnostic Expertise

  • Carry out advanced diagnostics, fault finding, and complex repairs

  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults

  • Support and mentor Technicians and Apprentices

  • Act as technical lead for difficult or repeat repair cases

Workshop Support

  • Assist the Service Manager with technical workflow and job allocation

  • Ensure all repairs are completed to manufacturer standards

  • Road test vehicles and carry out quality control checks

  • Minimise repeat repairs and warranty rejections

Warranty & Manufacturer Compliance

  • Complete warranty repairs accurately and efficiently

  • Ensure all job cards and documentation meet manufacturer requirements

  • Support warranty audits and technical investigations

Training & Development

  • Support the training and development of the workshop team

  • Keep up to date with manufacturer technical bulletins and training

  • Assist with new model, EV, and hybrid technology support

Health, Safety & Housekeeping

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and workshop standards

  • Promote a clean, safe, and professional working environment

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Fully qualified Motor Vehicle Technician

  • Master Technician / Level 4 / Brand Master accreditation preferred

  • Extensive experience within a franchised dealership environment

  • Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding skills

  • Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems including EV & hybrid

  • Ability to work independently and support team development
