This is an outstanding opportunity to join my client, a highly-regarded, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Consultancy known for lending their expertise to projects across the Engineering and Environmental landscapes. They are actively seeking an experienced, capable Principal Hydraulic Modeller who is willing to take on a challenging array of projects across a variety of sectors, based near the historic, maritime city of Plymouth.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • Manage a team of high-performing colleagues in the delivery of a variety of projects
  • Managing and auditing projects and productivity rates
  • Producing hydraulic models, as well as supervising, checking, and verifying other colleagues' models and surveys
  • Analysing and interpreting data using a variety of software systems, to prepare/check/publish reports
  • Supervising generation of plans utilising MapInfo
  • Managing client and stakeholder relations
  • Representing the company at various site visits and other meetings
  • Flexibly managing a varied selection of projects
  • Managing costs, resources, and project delivery
  • Adhering to and enforcing industry standards, regulations, and the appropriate health and safety measures at all times

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • A Degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or a similar, relevant discipline
  • Extensive experience of working in a design-based role, within a UK consultancy (or Local Authority) setting
  • Experience of wastewater modelling
  • Outstanding proficiency in InfoWorks ICM (1D and 2D), and other relevant software packages
  • Demonstrable experience of having managed both people and projects
  • Experience of managing client/stakeholder relations
  • Full, valid UK driving licence
  • Chartered Status/membership of an appropriate, recognised professional body

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • Good knowledge of the local area and surrounding region
  • Excellent working knowledge of a range of other software systems used within the flood risk, drainage, and hydrology sectors
