About the Rolegap personnel are looking 24 experienced Mechanical Fitters to support engineering operations across a range of high-profile projects at Devonport Dockyard. Whether working on Royal Navy Warships, cutting-edge Submarines, or within advanced manufacturing facilities, this role offers the chance to work on complex, large-scale engineering challenges that make a real difference.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Installing, maintaining, and overhauling mechanical systems such as fluid pumps, diesel engines, high-pressure air systems and hydraulic units
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Aligning and commissioning new mechanical equipment
  • Conducting functional tests and system surveys
  • Collaborating with high-performing teams to meet project deadlines and safety standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, preferably within marine or similar heavy engineering environments
  • Confident in using workshop machinery and tools
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to follow detailed technical instructions
  • Flexible, safety-conscious and a strong team player

Desirable Background

  • Experience working with Royal Navy vessels, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships, or large commercial ships
  • Time-served apprentice in marine or naval engineering
  • Background in high-integrity or defence-related engineering projects

QualificationsCandidates must hold the following:

  • Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification

Security RequirementsApplicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance due to the nature of the work.
