Abatec are proud to be partnered with a strategic civil engineering contractor on site at Devonport Dockyard who have secured a 43m contract to deliver a high specification jetty. Our client requires an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team based on site in Plymouth.

With an impressive 260m turnover our client is well-positioned to support complex, major infrastructure and marine engineering projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-value, complex works within a secure environment, supporting national defence infrastructure.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:

Lead all commercial and contractual activities across the jetty delivery package
Preparation, submission, and negotiation of interim applications and final accounts
Procurement and management of subcontract packages
Provide accurate project forecasting, cost/value reconciliations and cash flow management
Support contract administration under NEC4 contracts
Identify and mitigate commercial risks in collaboration with delivery teams
Provide commercial input during progress meetings and client reviews
Ensure compliance with project controls and internal governance
Mentor and support junior commercial staff as appropriate

Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with:

Proven track record working on civils, marine or infrastructure projects
Minimum 5+ years post-qualification experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS role
Strong understanding of NEC contracts
Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial management of works packages
Prior exposure to projects within secure or COMAH-regulated environments (desirable)
Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering
Proficient in cost reporting tools and Microsoft Excel

Salary and benefits include:

60,000 - 65,000 per annum
Company vehicle / car allowance
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
