Are you a hands on, experienced Manufacturing Shift Leader driven by Continuous Improvement and leading production teams to hit KPIs, in turn ensuring in on time delivery of products to customers? If so, we would like to hear from you! We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Shift Leader to oversee all production activities on the shop floor during assigned shifts, and function as the primary point of contact for employees to promote a culture of safety and accountability. You will support in managing key aspects of production including Health and Safety, Staffing, Work in progress, scrap control and coordination of support functions.

Key Role Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate closely with the Resourcing Team to ensure effective shift handovers and with Value Stream Leads to communicate updates on production performance, equipment issues and any other issues.
  • Support with unforseen manning issues.
  • Support Resource with absence management as and when required.
  • KPI Management including scrap and WIP.
  • Maintain and improve 5S.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement activities.
  • Support with organisation of on shift training when required.
  • Involvement in HR related activities including PDPs, 121s, Training and Development, Disciplinaries etc.
  • Liaising with support teams.
  • Cover site maangement on late shift.
  • Effective production management to ensure that the safety of people, quality and output requirements are achieved.
  • Defining, Sharing and implementing best practice.
  • Ensure adherance to H&S policies and procedures.

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Candidate Attributes required:

  • Recent, proven experience as a Production Supervisor / Shift Leader within Manufacturing or Engineering.
  • Experience in leading a large cross functional team.
  • GCSEs Grade C (4) or above in English and Mathematics.
  • MS Office computer literate.
  • Analytical and data driven mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong inter-personal skills with the ability to collaborate, influence and constructively challenge.
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills coupled with the ability to use own initiative.

Beneficial Qualifications, Training & Skills

  • Team Leading qualification such as CMI, ILM or equivalent in Leadership.
  • Trained Fire Marshall.
  • First Aid Trained.
  • SAP Experience.
