British Sign Language Support Worke

  • Location: Plymouth, Devon
  • Hourly Rate: £14.00 per hour
  • Salary: £29,120 plus sleep ins at £80 each. Salary package up to 40K inclusive of sleep ins.
  • Shift Patterns: Long day with sleep ins, early shifts and waking night shifts available

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading provider of supported living service, for a team of BSL Support Workers to support a new service user package.

The team are dedicated to empowering individuals with diverse abilities to live fulfilling lives in their own homes. This role is crucial in enhancing the independence and quality of life for individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with the individuals you assist.
  • Provide night-time support addressing the specific needs of individuals.
  • Assist with personal care and daily living activities as required.
  • Help with household tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to effectively communicate with individuals.
  • Adhere to all care plans, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Document and report individual progress and any concerns to the team.

Required Skills 

  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) - a minimum of BSL Level 1 is required
  • Compassion and empathy for individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both in BSL and written/verbal English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience and adaptability to meet the unique needs of each individual.
  • Experience with Challenging behaviour is desirable
