Deputy Design Manager (2-Year Contract)
Location: Remote - with occassional visits to Plymouth

Rate: Flexible on experience

Our client is delivering major infrastructure upgrades to support critical defence programmes and is seeking a Deputy Design Manager with experience in complex civil engineering projects-ideally within the marine or nuclear sector.

In this role, you'll manage multidisciplinary design packages, ensuring compliance with technical, functional, and safety requirements. You'll coordinate with subconsultants, review integrated designs, and guide delivery to meet quality, schedule, and budget goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and review design packages for civil structures and water-retaining boundaries

  • Ensure integration of technical and safety requirements

  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical design guidance

  • Maintain documentation and quality control in line with project governance

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Chartered status preferred)

  • Experience in large-scale civil or marine infrastructure projects

  • Familiarity with safety-critical and high-hazard environments
