The primary purpose of this role is to supervise production shifts, ensuring smooth operations and providing immediate support during plant breakdowns. Key responsibilities include achieving production targets, overseeing plant and machinery operations, and maintaining quality standards. The role involves monitoring production metrics, reporting to management, and proposing efficiency improvements. The Shift Production Supervisor will actively participate in business improvement initiatives, set team goals, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety. Additional duties include managing raw materials, maintaining accurate production records, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The role also encompasses scheduling and covering for team members during absences.

Main Responsibilities are:

  • Supervise and assist on production shifts, providing prompt support during plant breakdowns.
  • Achieve production targets and maintain quality standards.
  • Oversee the operation of plant and machinery, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
  • Monitor production metrics, analyse data, and report findings to management.
  • Ensure consistent quality by monitoring production output and rejecting items that fail to meet standards.
  • Evaluate and propose efficiency improvements for machinery, products, and processes.
  • Actively participate in business improvement initiatives and kaizen events.
  • Set clear expectations, give balanced feedback, and praise where due.
  • Update the daily SIOPs report and validate operator performance against SOP.
  • Suggest training requirements and provide training to Production Operatives.
  • Host shift handovers and toolbox talks, ensuring all actions are agreed upon and followed up.
  • Support Process Incident Reviews and maintain a clean, safe, and tidy work environment.
  • Create and maintain a safe environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Issue permits to work and hot work permits.
  • Aid the Production & Plant Manager in process validation.
  • Ensure efficient and timely execution of work, challenging wasteful activities.
  • Work with the CI team on improvement projects and suggest new projects.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of current systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain exemplary housekeeping standards and cultivate a culture of safety and health.
  • Coordinate the reception, storage, and inventory management of raw materials.
  • Responsible for accurate and up-to-date record-keeping.
  • Supervise the shift schedule, ensuring optimal team performance and collaboration.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Possesses a solid secondary education, including Maths and English
  • IOSH - certified Health and Safety qualification, or currently working towards certification.
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Experienced in production and manufacturing processes, with skills in operating industrial plant equipment and machinery.
  • Experienced in supervisor or management roles and adept at working collaboratively in a team, adaptable to rotating shift pattern.
