Role Overview

H9 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to oversee and develop the commercial operations of its quarry site near Knottingley. This pivotal role involves managing the sales office, building and maintaining key customer relationships, enhancing business development, and ensuring that pricing strategies and order fulfilment processes are executed efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the commercial aspects of the quarry operation
  • Manage and motivate the internal sales team
  • Oversee the full sales process from enquiry to invoicing
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders
  • Develop new business opportunities and expand the customer base
  • Create and manage pricing strategies, quotations, and tender submissions
  • Work closely with transport and site teams to align production with demand
  • Monitor performance and efficiency of haulage and logistics partners
  • Track and report on KPIs to support business planning and forecasting
  • Ensure commercial activities align with operational and financial targets

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong sales and leadership experience within quarrying, waste, or recycling industries
  • In-depth knowledge of aggregates, recycled materials, and civil engineering standards
  • Experience in inert waste acceptance and recycling operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and deliver commercial results
  • Customer-focused mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
