Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Design and Technology Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school on a supply basis until the end of the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students in areas such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, and/or food technology, depending on specialism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and effective DT lessons across KS3 and KS4.

  • Teach a variety of topics within the Design and Technology curriculum in line with national guidelines.

  • Plan, prepare, and assess student work to promote progression and high achievement.

  • Ensure a safe and productive learning environment within practical workshop settings.

  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental planning where required.

  • Support students with practical tasks, including the use of tools and machinery (as appropriate).

  • Maintain a strong classroom presence and uphold behaviour expectations in line with school policy.

  • Liaise with colleagues and parents/carers to support student progress and wellbeing.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level.

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a new school environment and work collaboratively with staff.

  • A proactive, creative, and flexible approach to teaching.

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Desirable:
  • Specialism in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Food Technology.

  • Experience working with a range of student abilities and needs.
