Senior Designer - Product Design / Manufacturing

CMD Recruitment are proud to be exclusively partnering with a global manufacturer of complex, design-led products to recruit an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Designer.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative professional with a background in product or industrial design to join a respected, international business known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and engineering excellence.

The Role

As Senior Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing innovative new products from initial concept through to prototype and production. Working within a multi-disciplinary design and engineering team, you'll combine creativity with technical understanding to deliver commercially successful designs for global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptualisation and development of new product designs.
  • Manage multiple design projects, ensuring delivery against brief, budget, and timeline.
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and production teams to bring ideas to market.
  • Produce engaging visual presentations and high-quality 2D/3D design assets.
  • Specify appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, and surface finishes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure product quality and integrity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation strategies across the business.

About You

  • Degree qualified (BA/MA) in Product Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a design-led manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent sketching and visualisation skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Skilled in 3D CAD software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Creo, Rhino, or 3Ds Max.
  • Rendering experience (e.g. KeyShot) beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of materials, prototyping, and production processes.
  • Confident communicator with a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Willingness to travel for supplier visits and project meetings when required.
