We are working with a specialist engineering business that designs and manufactures advanced electronic systems used in safety-critical applications.

Due to sustained growth and increasing demand, they are looking to add an experienced Electronics Engineer to a small, highly capable engineering team, where you'd be involved in the full product development life-cycle of their new systems.

The Role

This is a hands-on engineering role with real technical ownership. You will take responsibility for electronic systems across the full product lifecycle, from early concept through to testing, validation, and in-service support.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Owning electronic system designs for one or more products

  • Working at system level, not just component level

  • Reviewing and assessing schematics and designs

  • Leading and contributing to design reviews

  • Supporting new product development (approx. 70%)

  • Supporting existing products, troubleshooting and production improvements (approx. 30%)

  • Working closely with mechanical engineers, software specialists, and production teams

  • Contributing to safety analysis and safety cases for critical systems

  • Involvement in environmental, qualification, and field testing

This is not a project management role, but you will naturally lead technical activity and act as a point of authority for your products.

Technical Environment

  • Microcontroller-based electronics

  • Some analogue design

  • Safety-critical engineering and analysis

  • Altium for schematic review and light design work

  • PCB layout largely supported by external partners

  • Embedded C at a review and understanding level (not a pure software role)

About You

You will be an experienced electronics engineer who has worked on real products and understands how systems come together end-to-end. This role suits someone who enjoys responsibility, problem-solving, and being close to the hardware.

You are likely to have:

  • A degree in Electronics or a closely related discipline

  • Industry experience in electronic product development

  • Strong schematic understanding and system-level thinking

  • Confidence leading technical discussions and reviews

  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach

  • Comfort working in a small, collaborative team

Experience in defence, aerospace, rail, nuclear, or other safety-critical sectors is beneficial but not essential.

Security

The role is likely to require SC clearance. Candidates must be eligible, but clearance can be sponsored by the company.

Package & Working Pattern

  • Salary up to £60,000 DOE

  • Bonus scheme

  • Private healthcare

  • Pension

  • 25 days holiday

  • Flexible working hours

  • Predominantly on-site due to the nature of the work, with reasonable ad-hoc flexibility

For more information on this role, please apply ASAP to avoid disappointment.
