GSL Education are inviting applications for the position of Child Disability Support Worker at a specialist education provision in Poole. This role involves both academic assistance and personal care, ensuring that each child can participate fully in school life and make consistent progress.

The School: The school are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students with moderate to severe learning difficulties. With a strong focus on inclusivity and respect, the school offers a wide range of facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory rooms, and specialised therapy spaces, alongside a rich curriculum that spans from Early Years to Post 16. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide compassionate and consistent support to children with moderate to severe learning difficulties, helping them engage with educational and therapeutic activities.
  • Assist students in accessing specialised facilities such as hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy spaces safely and effectively.
  • Encourage participation in a broad curriculum and enrichment activities, aimed at building confidence, independence, and personal growth.
  • Support the creation of a nurturing, inclusive, and respectful environment where every child feels valued and encouraged.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff, contributing to collaborative planning and delivering personalised support based on individual needs.
  • Observe, document, and report on student progress, ensuring feedback is shared with the wider team to inform ongoing support and development.

Candidate Expectations:

  • Experience or strong interest in supporting children with moderate to severe learning difficulties in educational or care environments.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with vulnerable children, promoting their confidence and well-being.
  • Willingness to assist children in accessing specialised facilities, including hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy spaces.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other staff, supporting the development and delivery of personalised education plans.
  • Good communication skills for building positive relationships with children, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
