Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, promoting access to learning and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in the delivery of a broad and enriched curriculum, including therapeutic and sensory-based activities across Early Years to Post-16 education.
  • Support pupils in engaging with specialised environments, such as hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy spaces, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Encourage the development of confidence, independence, and social skills through participation in structured lessons and enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to contribute to personalised education and care plans, adapting support based on student needs.
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment, upholding the school’s values and helping students achieve their full potential.

Candidate Expectations:

  • Previous experience or a strong interest in supporting students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, ideally within an educational or care setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and supportive nature, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing and inclusive education.
  • Willingness to actively participate in a range of activities, including those delivered in hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and therapeutic learning spaces.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff, contributing to personalised learning and development plans.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building positive relationships with students and colleagues in a small-class environment.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, or willingness to complete relevant training, to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
