GSL Education are seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming school in Poole. This role involves working closely with students who require additional support, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tailored Academic Support – Work closely with teaching staff to deliver individualised support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, ensuring access to the full curriculum.
  • Promote Inclusive Learning – Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment by supporting students’ participation in learning activities, therapies, and enrichment programmes.
  • Facilitate Engagement in Specialist Areas – Support pupils during sessions in facilities such as the hydrotherapy pool and multi-sensory rooms, helping them engage safely and meaningfully.
  • Encourage Independence and Personal Development – Help students develop key life skills and independence through structured activities, consistent encouragement, and emotional support.
  • Contribute to Collaborative Planning – Work alongside teachers, therapists, and other staff in assessing pupil progress and adapting support strategies to meet evolving individual needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, demonstrating understanding of their unique educational and emotional needs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, teachers, therapists, and families to support collaborative learning.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Willingness to support students in specialised settings, including hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy spaces, following all health and safety protocols.
  • Flexibility and teamwork, with the ability to contribute to collaborative planning and adapt support strategies to meet the evolving needs of individual pupils.
  • Enhanced DBS: An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply.
